Tech Elevator Week 11: Only 3 Weeks Left…
Week 11 of 14
This week is Thanksgiving so we had class from Monday-Wednesday. I’m thankful that I am able to attend class remotely and visit my dad and stepmom in Michigan for two weeks!
The last two weeks have been focused on learning JavaScript and Vue.js. Javascript is responsible for making websites interactive and dynamic.
Fun fact: Javascript was created in 10 days in 1995.
After 5 days of learning Javascript, I created a calculator as part of a pair programming project. You can try it out below.
Next Week is Matchmaking
Employer matchmaking is a “speed-dating” event for Tech Elevator Students to interview with employers who are looking for Junior tech talent.
I am very pleased with the companies I am interviewing with. I’d like to give huge kudos to Tech Elevator’s Pathway Directors for finding employers that offer remote employment.
Because remote work means more time with cats right? This is 4-month old Lacey!
What’s next?
Next week is #12 of 14. I can’t believe I am almost done.
While the job search is in full swing, there is still a lot to learn!
Week 12
Week 12 is the conclusion of Module 3. Module 3 ends with a front-end capstone. This capstone will draw on our knowledge of HTML, CSS (Grid + Flexbox), and Vue.js. This will be a pair programming project over the course of 1-3 days.
You can check out my previous capstone projects on my here.
Week 12 will also include the first employer matchmaking event on Tuesday.
Week 13 + 14
The final two weeks of Tech Elevator are set aside for a 4-person capstone. In this capstone project, we will create a full-stack application according to assigned business requirements.
There will also be another matchmaking event during this time as well.
Graduation
Friday, December 17th is our graduation day. There will also be time reserved for us to demonstrate our final capstone projects. You are invited to stop by and check it out virtually. More details coming soon.
Life After Graduation
Hopefully, I will have a job soon after graduating. Please keep me in mind if any opportunities for Junior Developers come your way.
I am also searching for a part-time organist position in Los Angeles as well.
I’m excited about what the future holds. I’ll do my best to keep you updated during this busy time.
Kindly,
Garrett
