Introducing Classically Minded

Every generation has defining moments.

  • Pearl Harbor.

  • JFK’s Assassination.

  • 9/11.

Today’s generation will likely be defined by living through the Covid-19 Pandemic.

As we near the end of social distancing and mask-wearing (God-willing), I feel the need to document the lives and experiences of musicians during these difficult times. I am also been intrigued by creating a safe space for musicians to discuss important issues of the day.

That’s how Classically Minded was born.

Now that it’s been around for about a month I want to share it with you! I’ve interviewed four musicians on their experience of the pandemic.

Samuel Sparrow: Clarinetist of the Charlotte Symphony

Dirén Checa: Mexican Violinist and First Prize Winner of the Grand Prize Virtuoso International Music Competition

Graham Rosen: Sound Artist, Audio Engineer, and Dalcroze Eurhythmics Instructor at Cleveland Institute of Music

Grace Wipfli: Resident Soprano of The Toledo Opera

I hope you’ll read the interviews! There are many ways you can support this project…
